The 3 players linked with Sunderland this week

Sunderland finish their 2022/23 Championship season at Preston North End on Monday, with the summer transfer window looming.

And it promises to be another busy one at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland could well be gearing up for an unexpected Premier League campaign, or they'll be readying for another competitive year in the Championship.

Sunderland's recruitment focuses on younger players and one name linked with the Black Cats at the start of the week was Birmingham City's Jude Bellingham.

A report from Daily Mail earlier revealed that Sunderland are making a pitch to sign the England U18 man this summer, and that it would cost Sunderland just £300,000 in compensation.

Elsewhere, Sunderland have been linked with SC Heerenveen midfielder Thom Haye.

Reports coming out of the Netherlands (via Sunderland Echo) revealed the Black Cats' interest in the 28-year-old defensive midfielder, who's previously played for Willem II and AZ Alkmaar.

The last name said to be on Sunderland's radar ahead of the summer transfer window is Lincoln City striker Ben House.

The 23-year-old has netted 12 times in 37 League One outings for the Imps this season. He signed from Eastleigh last season and has really shone for the Imps in recent weeks.

A busy summer ahead...

Last summer was a really positive time for Sunderland.

They signed a number of exciting younger player and all of them have gone on to impress, and expect to see the same kind of business from the Black Cats this summer.

But Tony Mowbray will know that he needs to keep the balance of youth and experience right so seeing names like Haye come onto their radar is no surprise.

Sunderland face Preston North End in the Championship on Monday, with a win potentially able to see Mowbray's men finish inside the top six.
