Tony Mowbray on how he tempted striker to Sunderland, he had 'amazing offers' elsewhere

Sunderland needed strikers on deadline day, and they eventually signed two in Nazariy Rusyn and Mason Burstow.
In total, Sunderland brought four strikers in this summer, including the aforementioned two, as well as Luis Hemir and Eliezer Mayenda.
It comes as Ross Stewart sealed a deadline day move to Southampton, and now Tony Mowbray knows what he has to work with until the January transfer window at least.
Burstow looks like an exciting signing with the Chelsea youngster leaving the club on loan for the second time following his 2022 arrival from Charlton Athletic.
And revealing how he tempted the 20-year-old into signing for the Black Cats, Mowbray told The Northern Echo:
“I know he had some amazing offers, but after our chat, he wanted to come here. I tried to sell this football club, and the biggest selling point is the supporters, I would suggest. What a chance to come and play in an environment that is so Premier League-like.
“There’s 40,000 people in the stadium roaring the team on, so get yourself ready to go and play at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea and be the number nine that bangs in all the goals and put your name next to (Didier) Drogba and all the great players that have played for Chelsea.”
Big responsibly for Burstow...
Sunderland look to have a good set of strikers now. But Mowbray will know that he can't solely rely on these youngsters; he'll need the likes of Jack Clarke to continue to chip in with goals.
So for Burstow, it's certainly a challenge, but he remains a player with great potential and at a club like Sunderland where youth has shone in recent times, he could really prevail.
Sunderland return to action away at QPR in the Championship later this month.
