Sunderland beat Luton Town 2-1 in the first leg of the Championship play-off semi-finals today.

Goals from Amad Diallo and Trai Hume sealed the win at the Stadium of Light. It gives Tony Mowbray's side the upper hand going into the second leg at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening, with Sunderland all of a sudden looking like one of the favourites in the race for promotion.

They continue to defy the odds under Mowbray who's had one of the league's lengthiest injury lists throughout the campaign. And that injury list only seems to grow after each passing fixture, with Alex Pritchard and Patrick Roberts having come off late in the game today.

Both players looked like they picked up knocks with Pritchard having stayed down for an amount of time before being withdrawn.

Speaking to Sunderland Echo after the game, Mowbray gave this update on the pair:

"We don't know at the moment. Patrick has come off, which isn't good. Pritchard has taken a kick, so hopefully it's just that it needs to settle down. Hopefully it's one where it's a big bag of ice and he's fine to play.

"Everyone will be in tomorrow and we'll see whose ready, and then we'll train again on Monday."

Mowbray is already without all of Aji Alese, Corry Evans, Elliot Embleton, Ross Stewart, Dennis Cirkin, Danny Batth, Jewison Bennette, and Dan Ballard - Alese though could yet feature in the second leg v Luton Town.

Pritchard and Roberts have both been influential for Sunderland this season. Both players have really chipped in in attack, proving their importance in the absence of players like Stewart throughout the campaign.

And if both players have picked up injuries - with a potential Wembley trip on the cards - then it'll come as a huge blow to Mowbray.

The second leg takes place on Tuesday evening with kick-off at 8pm.
