Sunderland announced this evening that they've reached an agreement to sign PSV youngster Jenson Seelt.

Seelt, 20, is set to arrive on Wearside this week to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Sunderland.

He looks set to become Sunderland's fourth signing of the summer so far, with Nectarios Triantis, Jobe Bellingham, and Luis Semedo having all joined the club on permanent deals.

Who is Jenson Seelt?

Seelt is a product of the PSV youth academy. He's been playing for Jong PSV for the past three years but was unable to make it into the PSV first-team.

He's racked up 63 appearances for Jong PSV, scoring seven goals from centre-back.

What kind player is he?

Seelt is a towering centre-back standing at 6ft 4ins. And watching a short highlight video of the player on YouTube, he's a very unique type of centre-back.

He seems to have the necessary attributes to play all over the pitch - he's obviously tall and strong but he's also pacey, and very technical too.

Seelt can drive forward with the ball and pick out a pass, and he also loves to get forward himself and, in fairness, he looks like he has a very good eye for goal too.

Why are Sunderland signing him?

The obvious reason is probably the fact that Seelt adds height to the Sunderland ranks.

Adding height and physicality was necessary after last season, with the Black Cats' lack of perhaps exposed on too many occasions last season.

But Seelt is also a player with huge potential and so he fits in with the club's transfer policy.

This seems like another very exciting signing for the Black Cats and given his attributes, the club could yet look to utilise him as a more defensive midfielder than a centre-back, which would be very interesting to see pan out.
