Elijah Hoyt is getting pretty familiar with the University of Iowa campus, particularly the football facilities. The Class of 2025 in-state prospect returned to town last weekend for the fourth time since last summer.

The Urbandale (IA) High defensive back took in the Hawkeyes' junior day event along with other invited recruits. He received a more in-depth look at the organization.

"The aspect of the visit that I enjoyed the most was hearing about the culture of the football program," he told HN. "The culture of not only the want to win, but the pursuit of winning; the constant improvement that they strive for."

The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association named Hoyt a second-team all-stater last fall. He recorded 22 solo tackles and 2.0 stops for loss with an interception and a forced fumble during his junior campaign. He also returned kicks, caught 12 passes for 220 yards and rushed eight times for 49 yards.

Hoyt (6-1, 185) displays that versatility and athleticism during his junior highlight video. He stands out in coverage at cornerback while also holding up well against the run. It's a combination that makes safety an option at the next level, too. He impresses with the ball in his hands.

It's a complete package that the Hawkeyes covet.

"I think Iowa is a good fit because I want to become and achieve being the best football player that I can possibly be, which I believe Iowa can definitely help with," he said.

While Hoyt awaits his first scholarship offer, plenty of top programs are showing consistent interest in him. The list includes Iowa State, Kansas State, Northern Illinois, North Dakota State and South Dakota.

"I'm thinking about taking a junior day to SDSU (South Dakota State University), and will be back at Iowa for spring practice. I'll also be attending a spring practice at K-State. As for summer camps, I'm planning on going to K-State, Iowa and Iowa State as of right now. I'm not sure about any others," he said.
