Here's  an undeniable truth about college football: As you drag through the sultry days of August you think the start of the season is never going to get here.

But then the season finally starts. Then you look up and it's Thanksgiving.

Now we have reached Championship Saturday. Sunday at Noon the field will be annonced for the College Football Playoff.

Wow!

With four 12-0 teams  heading into the weekend, the potential for chaos is possible. More on that later.,

After last week's 2-4 finish we are 38-40-1 for the season against the spread.

Here we go:  Let's finish over .500.

Pac-12 championship: No. 5 Oregon (giving 9.5) vs. No. 3 Washington in Las Vegas. A battle of two elite quarterbacks, Washington's Michael Penix,  Jr.,and Oregon's Bo Nix. Both are serious Heisman contnders. Washington won the regular-season meeting 36-33 in Seattle. I have Oregon winning the rematch and covering 9.5.

Big 12: No. 18 Oklahoma State vs. No. 7 Texas (giving 15) in Arlington, Tex. Texas (11-1) needs a win to keep its hopes alive of reaching the CFP. And with its win over Alabama on Sept. 9 in Tuscaloosa, the Longhorns could be a lock with a win over the Cowboys at Jerry's World. I see Texas winning but I don't see them covering 15. I have feeling Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy has a little something for the Longhorns before they leave for the SEC.

Sun Belt: Appalachian State at Troy (giving six):  Troy (10-2) has had a big year, losing only to Kansas State on the road and James Madison (16-14 at home). Troy is 21-2 in its last 23 games. So I'll take Troy and lay the six.

American: SMU at Tulane (giving 5). Tulane (11-1) is trying to reach a New Year's Six Bowl for the second straight year. Last season the Green Wave put on a miracle comeback to beat USC in the Cotton Bowl. Tulane's only loss this year was to Ole Miss 37-20 back on Sept. 9. I'll give the five points and take Tulane.

SEC: No. 1 Georgia (12-0) vs. No. 8 Alabama (11-1) (getting 5.5), in Atlanta. Georgia is trying to become the first team since Minnesota in 1934-36 to win three straight national championships. But first the Bulldogs, who have won 29 straight games, must beat  an Alabama team that has improved signficantly since September. They key for Georgia will be its ability to pessue Jalen Milroe. I'm taking Georgia and laying the points. This could be a classic.

ACC: No. 14 Louisville vs. No. 4 Florida State (giving 1.5) in Charlotte. The consensus is that if Florida State (12-0) wins the Seminoles are in the CFP. But we will see. Louisville lost to Kentucky last Saturday while Florida State was beating  Florida without quarterback Jordan Travis, who is still out with a serious leg injury. I'm going to take Louisville to win by a field goal.

Big Ten: No. 2 Michigan vs.  No. 16 Iowa (getting 22) in Indianapolis.. Iowa is giving up only 12.2 points put game while its offense is only scoring 18 points per game. I like Michigan to win the game but I don't see the Wolverines covering 22. Michigan is locked into the playoffs if they win.
