The Boston Red Sox dropped game two of a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night at Fenway Park, losing 4-1.

It's the second consecutive loss for the Red Sox to Pittsburgh, which now drops the Sox to 2-3 on the year.

Our own Fastball on FanNation writer Brady Farkas, also the host of "The Payoff Pitch" podcast says that the Red Sox are exactly who we thought they were -- and that's not necessarily a good thing. You can watch the video of his thoughts in the player below.

Brady's thoughts stem from this notion:

1) We kind of thought the Red Sox offense could be good. Even without Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez, the offense figured to be this teams strength. Rafael Devers, Masataka Yoshida, Justin Turner and others figured to give the Red Sox professional at-bats, so we thought they would be capable of scoring runs. That's a good thing.

2) But we also knew that the Red Sox starting pitching was full of question marks. The Sox came into the season with a rotation full of injury and performance concerns and that also begs the question: If we could see it coming, why couldn't Sox management?

3) Brady addresses comments from John Tomase of NBC Sports Boston, who says that he's leaning towards thinking that Sox pitcher Chris Sale is done and has nothing really left to offer this team.

These comments by Brady were made on "The Payoff Pitch" podcast, which gets released every Wednesday by 8 a.m. ET. You can subscribe on Apple Podcasts and Spotify and you can also follow the videos from the podcast on YouTube by searching for "The Payoff Pitch" podcast.
