The Seattle Mariners will play the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday at 3:10 p.m. ET at the Diamondbacks' spring training home at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Lefty Marco Gonzalez will take the mound for the Mariners, making his second start of the spring. He allowed four runs off five hits and a home run over two innings in his previous start Saturday, February 25. Gonzalez will likely occupy the Mariners' fifth spot in their starting rotation, pitching behind Luis Castillo, Robbie Ray, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert, in what some believe could be the best pitching staff in Seattle franchise history.

Merrill Kelly will start for the Arizona Diamondbacks, in what might be his last spring training appearance before the World Baseball Classic. Kelly will pitch for Team USA in the fifth-ever World Baseball Classic. It will be the first WBC since 2017, when the United States won its first ever WBC championship. The event began in 2006.
