Former Oregon Ducks Guard Te-Hina Paopao Commits to South Carolina
After entering the transfer portal earlier this month, Te-Hina Paopao has found a new home.
On Monday, the former Oregon Ducks guard announced her commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Paopao was one of Oregon's top players during the 2022 college basketball season. As a junior in Eugene she averaged 13.1 points, 3.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game, helping lead Kelly Graves' Ducks to a 20-15 overall record, going 7-11 in Pac-12 play.
She started in all 35 games for Oregon, playing alongside veteran guard and former USC Trojan Endyia Rogers, who also entered the transfer portal this offseason.
With Paopao landing in Columbia for the 2023 season, all five of the five-star recruits that signed with Oregon in the 2020 recruiting class have now moved on to other programs.
Rogers entered the 2023 WNBA Draft and then proceeded to remove her name in recent weeks and instead opt for one more year of college basketball. There's a lot of speculation that she could take her talents to Baton Rouge to team up with long-time friend Angel Reese and the National Champion LSU Tigers.
As for Paopao, the 5-foot-9 guard joins a South Carolina team that finished the 2022 season with a 36-1 record, going a perfect 16-0 in SEC play. Their only loss of the season came as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, falling to the No. 3-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes 77-73.
Paopao spent three seasons at Oregon after signing in 2020 from La Jolla Country Day School and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
