FINAL: Gamecocks Stay Hot With 8-1 Series-Opening Win Over Belmont

South Carolina baseball program moves to 6-0 on the season with a win over the Belmont Bruins.

Game Summary

In a game paused due to a weather delay for over two hours, the South Carolina Gamecocks got off to a quick 4-0 lead before the delay took effect in the bottom of the third. Parker Noland started the scoring with his first homerun of the season, scoring Blake Jackson, and Dylan Brewer continued his hot streak with two RBIs. After the delay, Gavin Casas barely missed a three-run shot, but was happy to land a two-RBI Double.

Eli Jones would have a nice appearance in his second start, getting three strikeouts through three innings and no hits, but he would have to hand it over to Tyler Pitzer because of the weather. Pitzer took an inning to settle in, allowing two hits in his first inning but getting out of a jam, turned around, and struck out the side in the fifth. He struggled with walking late and getting the bases loaded but would escape after only allowing one run.

In the final five innings, the staff walked five, continuing to struggle in that department; however, they've managed to escape any real trouble, only giving up four hits and only one earned run.
