Arizona football has seen its fair share of roster turnover this season, as that has become the norm in today’s college landscape. The Wildcats are coming off a 9-4 season and will look to continue that momentum into the upcoming college football season.

Four New Tight Ends

Today, we are going to highlight the tight end room, as it has three transfers and one freshman. Tight ends coach Josh Miller spoke on his unit after spring practice.

“Really excited about the group! We brought in four new guys, and I thought we did a great job of identifying culturally. They all are hungry and want to work, so I’m excited about that," Miller said.

Cole Rusk:

Miller gave an insight into the four newcomers. First up is senior Cole Rusk.

“He’s coming from the Midwest, and we are super excited about him," Rusk said. "He has a good amount of playing experience, and he’s playing in big games. I expect him and TP (Tyler Powell) to lead the room as far as a veteran presence."

Miller Spoke Highly of the Three Young Guys

Miller was impressed with the three younger players in the tight end group.

“Arthur Ban has done a great job; he, Henry, and Shane all have done a great job of adding 12 to 15-plus pounds," Miller said. "They are filling out their frames really well, and we are fired up about their work ethic.”

Powell on Track for Kickoff

Powell is coming off a leg injury that cut his 2025 season short. He was expected to play a key role on offense, but unfortunately, that did not pan out. Now he has a chance to bounce back this season. Miller was asked about Powell’s recovery.

“I’ve been super proud of TP [Tyler Powell], he’s attacked it, he’s got a great mentality, and he’s ahead of schedule. I expect him to have a great summer to get him caught up and acclimated in fall camp.”

What Miller Wants To See in 2026

Miller had a straightforward plan on what his room needed to work on and the identity of the Wildcats heading into the 2026 season.

“We want to master self first, so mastering ourselves versus understanding what we want to do systematically. Then we want to master opponent, so getting to be more familiar with the defensive schemes, fronts, stunts, techniques.”

Miller and his boys will be in action when the Wildcats kick off on Sept. 5 at home against Northern Arizona. This upcoming season is expected to be a big one for the Wildcats.
