FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas has lost a pair of key defensive backs who announced they're pursuing professional dreams. Senior defensive back Dwight McGlothern and safety Alfahiym Walcott have declared for the NFL Draft.

McGlothern, by way of LSU, transferred to Arkansas following the Razorbacks surprising 9-4 season in 2021. He was one of the underrated but productive secondary players on a solid Tigers' defense. The Houston native made an immediate impact with the Razorbacks in 2022 being one of their leading tacklers with 52 while recording a team-high four interceptions in 13 games.

During the 2023 season, McGlothern struggled to stay healthy with a nagging toe injury suffered in early September. But, the ball-hawking defender still led the team in interceptions with three.

Fellow transfer defensive back, Walcott, came in from Baylor as a redshirt super senior with fellow teammate Lorando Johnson. Walcott fought a few injuries but still managed to play in all 12 games this season. He was Arkansas' fourth leading tackler on the season with 56 while also tying McGlothern for most interceptions with three.

Arkansas has lost a total of 17 scholarship players to the NFL Draft or transfer portal this offseason. With the NCAA removing the signing limit of 25 scholarship signees, teams are now able to change their rosters more efficiently and effectively each offseason.

As for other possible NFL departures go, Landon Jackson announced he would return to the Razorbacks at least for one more season. The Texarkana, Texas, native was ranked as the top defensive end prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft by ESPN's Mel Kiper.
