FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Following an official visit on Jan. 3, former Florida safety Miguel Mitchell has announced he will transfer to Arkansas.

Mitchell signed with the Gators during the 2022 recruiting cycle as a 3-star during the initial class of current head coach Billy Napier. He chose Florida over Tennessee, LSU and Oregon.

The Oxford, Alabama native made his debut season a memorable one, cracking the rotation in the Gators secondary right away. Mitchell thrived in his star-nickelback position during short yardage situations.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, Mitchell possesses exceptional size similar to fellow defensive backs already on the Razorbacks' roster. Arkansas improved its secondary under first-year defensive coordinator Travis Williams along with co-coordinator Marcus Woodson. The Hogs rose from the depths of the FBS in yards per game in 2022 all the way to No. 32 nationally with 202 yards per game given up this season.

Over the past two seasons, Mitchell has appeared in 24 games including eight starts. He recorded 52 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, three passes defended and a forced fumble.

Arkansas has received commitments from 13 transfers. The Razorbacks have added a total of three transfers to the secondary this offseason in Mitchell, Doneiko Slaughter (Tennessee) and Marquise Robinson (South Alabama).

With addition comes subtraction with Malik Chavis (UNLV) and Jaylen Lewis (Temple) who have left the Razorback program. Baylor transfer safety Alfahiym Walcott exhausted his eligibility following the 2023 season.
