FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — For the first time in 38 games, the Mississippi State starting quarterback will not be senior Will Rogers. His streak was the longest active streak at one SEC school. Rogers injured his shoulder in a 41-28 win over the Western Michigan Broncos two weeks ago. An extra week, with Mississippi having their bye week before facing the Razorbacks was not enough time for Rogers to return.

Coach Zach Arnett and offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay will instead turn to Vanderbilt senior transfer Mike Wright. Wright started six games for the Commodores and went 85-for-148 passing for 974 yards last season.

This year, Wright has appeared in six games in select packages for the Bulldogs and poses a bigger threat as a dual-threat quarterback. He has 20 rushing attempts for 138 yards.
