Williams Eating More; Cunningham Thinks Offense Good

Razorbacks' defensive lineman Zach Williams on having to eat more and offensive lineman Myron Cunningham is confident in the offense with experience.

Most folks aren't eating to gain weight on purpose.

That's not the case with junior defensive lineman Zach Williams, who has packed on 54 pounds since he came to Fayetteville and it's weight he needed.

"It is kind of a big jump," Williams said of going from 204 as a freshman to 260 now. "It has really helped me a lot with staying on the line, going against Myron here ... he's a big boy. You can't be 200 pounds and doing that."

That got laughs all around as Williams and offensive tackle Myron Cunningham talked with the media after Friday's 150-play scrimmage.

Cunningham is 6-foot-6, 325, so he was getting a kick out of Williams' reference.

"When I first got here, me and Zach were a little under weight," he said. "Throughout the years he's definitely gotten better and he's gotten a lot more physical in the run game and the passing game. With the added weight he's put on it just makes it harder to move him out of there."

After the defense finished strong in last week's scrimmage, this time the offense made strides forward, even with projected starters like wide receiver Treylon Burks and running back Trelon Smith dinged up and missing some time.

Both were included in Sam Pittman's injury update, but all are expected to be full speed for the opener Sept. 4 against Rice.
