The Auburn basketball offseason started earlier than they wanted it to after dropping the first game of the NCAA Tournament.

The Auburn Tigers fell to Yale in the round of 64 and will begin to address offseason roster moves earlier than they expected to as they entered as a four seed and anticipated a few wins in the postseason tournament.

With the Transfer Poral window opening for college basketball players, Auburn senior guard KD Johnson will enter the portal to look for a new school according to reports. Johnson transfer to the Plains after spending his freshman year with the Georgia Bulldogs. he will finish his college career elsewhere.

Johnson won two SEC Championships during his time at Auburn. The most recent was this year's SEC Tournament Championship when the Tigers beat Florida to clinch the top spot in the SEC. Auburn also won the SEC regular season title in 2022.

The loss of Johnson does not seem to come as a surprise to the Auburn coaching staff. Johnson's high energy and elite defense will be tough to replace but guard seems to be a major focus this offseason for Bruce Pearl and his coaching staff.

Auburn is brining in freshman Tahaad Pettiford and expects a large role out of Denver Jones next season at the shooting guard position.
