BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn designated hitter Ike Irish has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

It marks the third time Irish has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week this season, marking the second most honors behind South Carolina’s Ethan Petry.

In Auburn’s three game sweep against Missouri, Irish went 4-for-12 with three runs, two doubles, one homer and four RBI. He extended his reached base streak to a season-best 19 games and scored a run in all three contests.

Irish homered in his third straight SEC game in the series opener against the visiting Tigers, going back-to-back with Bryson Ware in the sixth inning. A day later, the Hudsonville, Michigan, native drove in the game-winning runs with a two-out, two-strike, two-RBI single through the left side in Auburn’s five-run eighth inning to complete the comeback and sweep of Missouri. Irish matched a SEC season high with three hits in the final, including his 20th and 21st doubles of the season.

Irish and No. 19 Auburn (33-19-1, 17-13 SEC) begin the SEC Tournament with a matchup against Missouri (30-23, 10-20 SEC) Tuesday in Hoover.
