Auburn baseball is hosting a Regional for the 2nd straight year

The Auburn baseball team will welcome in three other schools to Plainsman Park next weekend.

The Auburn Tigers are are set to host a Regional in postseason play for the 2nd straight year, being awarded a national seed by the NCAA Baseball Selection Committee. 

Auburn hosted a Regional in 2022 on their way to a College World Series appearance, welcoming UCLA, Florida State, and Southeastern Louisiana to Plainsman Park. The Tigers opened with a 19-7 obliteration of Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night before scoring 21 runs in a rout of Florida State on Saturday. Sunday night's finale against UCLA was halted by weather in the 6th inning with Auburn up 9-0, en route to an eventual 11-4 victory on Monday afternoon. 

Auburn's made 23 appearances in the Field of 64, with a 54-45 record in the postseason. Plainsman Park has hosted five Regionals in its history - 1978, 1999, 2003, 2010, & 2022.

Head coach Butch Thompson has made nine College World Series appearances in his illustrious career, with this Regional marking his 19th career postseason appearance. He's led Auburn to two of the last three College World Series and advanced to the Super Regionals in three of the last four season. Thompson's one of only five active SEC head coaches to take their program to two College World Series in a three-season span.
