TAKEAWAYS: Auburn baseball blows out Samford

The Auburn baseball team took care of business Tuesday night.

Auburn baseball wasted no time taking down the Samford Bulldogs Tuesday night in Plainsman Park.

The Auburn Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 12-3 thanks to an early three runs in the first and later exploding for five runs in the third. The Tigers improve to 7-1 on the season.

Let's take a look at some of our takeaways from the action.

Connor McBride showed up

Early in the season, mid-week starters can be a variable at every level of college baseball. McBride was excellent for the Tigers on Tuesday. He pitched for 5.0 innings and set up Butch Thompson and the Tigers to rotate some arms behind them to see what guys like freshman Griffin Graves and sophomore Dylan Watts could do in the game.

McBride got through five innings with only 63 innings pitched and he struck out five Samford batters in the solid outing.

Birthday Bash

Happy Birthday, Christian Hall! On his birthday, Hall went to the plate a mashed a three-run homer to widen Auburn's lead by eight runs. It was Hall's third home run of the season and brought his RBI total to seven on the year.

It was a beatdown

Auburn's offense was relentless against Samford on Tuesday. Auburn had 11 hits, led by Bobby Peirce's three. The Tigers had three home runs and drew six walks in the action that felt over before a third of the way through the action.

Auburn continues their homestand this weekend with a three-game series against the UConn Huskies. Friday and Sunday's game will be on SEC Network+.
