Takeaways: Auburn beats UAB 7-2

The No. 14 Auburn Tigers beat the UAB Blazers 7-1 tonight at home inside Plainsman Park.
A solo home run by catcher Ike Irish in the second inning got Auburn's offense going and it continued to produce throughout the game.
What are the biggest takeaways from the game?
Cooper Weiss continued to be a menace on the base paths
Auburn's senior shortstop has gotten off to a hot start this season in terms of base running.
Cooper Weiss stole five bases during Auburn's opening series against Eastern Kentucky and tacked on two more tonight to bring his total to six.
If Weiss can consistently cause this much of a disruption with his base running, the Tigers will surely see an increase in the amount of runs they score this season.
Conner McBride showed promise in his first start
In his first appearance and start in an Auburn uniform, junior right-hander Conner McBride put together some quality innings.
In 3.2 innings of work, McBride limited UAB to one run on two hits, walked two batters and struck out four.
McBride's arm appears to have been a solid addition for the Tigers this offseason.
Auburn's pitchers held UAB's bats in check
The Blazers were held to one run and four hits.
Auburn's pitching staff had a productive night and will hope that production makes the trip to Jacksonville with the team this weekend.
Auburn is now 4-0 on the season.
What's Next?
Auburn returns to action this weekend to participate in the Jax College Baseball Classic. The Tigers will take on the No. 18 Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday, the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday and the No. 10 Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday.
