No. 12 Baylor Bears at Iowa State: Preview & How to Watch
The No. 12 Baylor men’s basketball team tips off Big 12 play in Ames, Iowa as coach Scott Drew and the Bears face the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, Dec. 31.
The New Year’s Eve showdown between the Bears and Cyclones is slated for 1 p.m. Central Time on ESPNU.
Baylor (10-2) is fresh off an 85-56 blowout victory over Nicholls State on Dec. 28, as the Bears are currently 5-0 in December and haven’t lost since a 96-70 setback at Marquette on Nov. 29.
Keynote George led the Bears in scoring in Baylor’s rout of Nicholls, with the freshman guard racking up 21 points and six rebounds while also dishing out four assists.
Guard Adam Flagler was right behind George in the scoring column in the team’s latest win, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and an assist.
Iowa State (9-2), meanwhile, defeated Western Michigan 73-57 on Dec. 18 and the Cyclones are 4-1 in December, with the team’s lone loss of the month occurring on Dec. 8 at Iowa.
The Bears are currently led in points and assists by Flagler, who is averaging 16.1 points and 5.2 assists per game on 48.7-percent shooting from the field.
Baylor’s rebounds leader so far this season is forward Flo Thamba, garnering an average of 3.5 defensive rebounds and 1.7 offensive rebounds per game.
Guard Jaren Homes leads the Cyclones in scoring with an average of 13.8 points per contest on 39-percent shooting from the field, while Iowa State guard Tamin Lipsey leads the team in assists with an average of 4.4 assists per contest.
Forward Aljaz Kunc is the Cyclones leader in rebounds this season with an average of 4.4 defensive boards and 1.5 offensive boards per contest.
