Baylor football (5-3) knocked off Texas Tech (4-4) on the road, 45-17, winning in Lubbock for the first time since 1990 behind Richard Reese's 148 yards and three scores.

A tale as old as time, the Bears jolted to a 24-3 lead in this game, but a blowout would have been too easy. Baylor needed to make it interesting, and entering the fourth quarter only up a score put the nerves on watch.

That didn't last long.

It just so happens that Richard Reese exists. The true freshman back now has 12 touchdowns on his season, and he's become THE piece of Baylor's offense. In his last two games, he's tallied 334 yards and five scores on 67 carries.

Oh, and three separate Texas Tech quarterbacks threw interceptions. That aided Baylor's astronomical 40:15 minutes of possession.

As for how it all shook out, remember when Baylor led Kansas 28-3 at halftime? While the halftime score of this game was not as dramatic, the Bears were somehow even more dominant. Let's recap.

The Anaconda Plan was Winfield Scott's strategy to suffocate the Confederacy during the Civil War. Coincidentally, this is what Aranda opted to employ in the first half.

Texas Tech barely had the ball. Baylor ran for 119 yards compared to the Red Raiders' 54. Baylor held the ball for 22:21 of game clock to the Red Raiders' 7:39. Baylor ran 52 plays to the Red Raiders' 27.

Couple that with 87 rushing yards and two scores from Reese, and Baylor led 17-3 at the break.

The second half started with a bang. Baylor picked off Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton for the second time in the game and immediately scored a touchdown.

The Red Raiders subsequently rattled off 10 unanswered points, but there he was: Richard Reese.

Yep. That'll do it. And if you're tired of hearing about Reese, the defense for the Bears was wildly good. Baylor intercepted five (5) Texas Tech passes. Joey Mcguire preaches take three. Baylor took five en route to a 45-17 win.

Baylor still controls its own destiny in the Big 12, and the road doesn't get any easier with a 2 p.m. contest at Oklahoma on the docket. That game will be live on ESPN+.
