Kansas Offensive Players to Watch vs. Baylor in Week 8

Jayhawks’ multiple pro offense hits the gridiron with high hopes of becoming bowl eligible

The Kansas Jayhawks football team has already vastly improved upon it's two-win campaign in 2021, racking up five wins and counting as the 2022 season rolls on.

As Kansas soars into Waco this weekend, the Jayhawks are on the verge of becoming bowl eligible while Baylor aims to bounce back following another disappointing road loss in search of its fourth win of the year.

It's also important to note that Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels is injured and will likely be out the rest of the season.

With that in mind, let's take a quick look at some of the key offensive players for Kansas to keep an eye on against Baylor coach Dave Aranda and the Bears in week eight of the season.

RB Devin Neal

Running back Devin Neal had a solid season as a true freshman in 2021 and is a newfound leader of a deep group of backs for Kansas in 2022.

Thus far in 2022, Neal has racked up 505 rushing yards on 76 carries with five touchdowns along with 35 receiving yards on five catches with one touchdown.

Last year, Neal appeared in 11 games (starting eight) and garnered 707 rushing yards on 158 attempts for eight touchdowns; he also racked up 57 receiving yards on seven catches with one touchdown.

WR Luke Grimm

Junior wide receiver Luke Grimm has made quite a name for himself in 2022, becoming a key target as Kansas has had a turnaround season after garnering just two wins in 2021.

Thus far in 2022, Grimm has 300 receiving yards on 26 catches with three touchdowns.

Last year, Grimm appeared in 10 games for the Jayhawks, garnering 349 receiving yards on 22 receptions with three touchdowns.

TE Mason Fairchild

Senior Mason Fairchild was the key target for tight ends in 2021 as the team's fourth-year player aims to continue improving in 2022.

So far this season, the 6-5, 261-pound Fairchild has garnered 206 receiving yards on 13 catches with five touchdowns.

Last season for the Jayhawks, he racked up 128 receiving yards on 13 catches with one touchdown.
