Addazio On Field Goal Attempt: I Thought We Were Going To Get It Off In Time

There were a handful of moments in today's game that could have swung the game one way or another. Going for on 4th and 1 in the first quarter was a questionable call, but given Wake's explosive offense you can understand why that choice was made. However, in the 4th quarter a sequence that happened that is hard to explain.
On 4th down, BC lined up to try and hit a 41 yard field goal with Aaron Boumerhi. He patiently warmed up as he prepared for the snap, and then the whistle blew. Boston College was called for a delay of game. Instead of calling a timeout when the playclock got down, someone lost track of the time and the Eagles were pushed back. On the next play BC tried the field goal again, but they bobbled the snap, went to Fire Drill, and Dennis Grosel missed a target in the end zone.

"I saw the clock ticking down. I was going to call a timeout. I thought we were still going to get it off in time. I didn't want to lose my timeout. I knew we would need those timeouts at the end of the game. I was trying not to burn it, and it was hair close. Obviously lost that decision by a half a second. That's what it came down to" --- Steve Addazio
Below you can see Addazio's complete comments on the play. It was only three points, but as you can see from the final score that was the difference between victory and defeat tonight.
