Boston College 45 Richmond 13: Eagles Take Care Of Business Against Spiders

Boston College needed to go out there and take care of business against Richmond and that is exactly what they did winning 45-13 in front of 30,111 at Alumni Stadium.
It didn't take long for BC to get on the board, after a series of incompletions from Anthony Brown, star freshman Zay Flowers continued where he left off taking off and scoring on a 46 yard jet sweep that really highlighted his speed and escapability. After a pair of punts, the Eagles added on to their lead on an Anthony Brown TD pass to Korab Idrizi after a physical drive with big runs by Travis Levy, AJ Dillon and David Bailey who had the longest a 36 yard barreling run.
BC got the ball back quickly after a circus interception by Nolan Borgersen, his first of his collegiate career. BC continued to dominate up front with a punishing drive that only had two passes, and the rest were rushes by AJ Dillon who punched it in from 2 yards out giving BC a 21-0 lead. Richmond got on the board early in the second quarter as quarterback Joe Mancuso was tough to tackle, and he made a nice pass to Keyston Fuller who ran in it untouched from 35 yards out.
BC continued to pile it on, as David Bailey bruised the Richmond front seven with four straight carries for 23 yards, and then we saw something that was surprising, AJ Dillon caught a pass, Anthony Brown's second of the game then ran it in for a 42 yard touchdown reception. It was definitely exciting to see the big Dillon get involved in the pass game.
Mancuso, Richmond's quarterback was tricky at times for the Eagles, he ran the ball effectively and hit a few key passes that prevented BC from getting the Spiders off the field. Richmond's kicker hit a field goal making it 28-10. However, BC put the game out of reach before the half when Anthony Brown hit Jake Burt who showed off some wheels on a 52 yard touchdown catch to give BC a 35-10. Tate Haynes intercepted Mancuso, but BC failed to convert a 4th down going into the half.
The second half featured yet another AJ Dillon touchdown and that was basically all there was to this game. Richmond and BC both added a field goal, and then the Eagles played the younger players like Denis Grosel, Patrick Garwo and others.
It was a solid win for the Eagles 45-13, with definite areas to work on, which we will talk about later. Anthony Brown finished the day with 163 yards passing and three touchdowns and the team ran for a total of 351 yards. BC did what they needed to do, and now are 2-0 with a big Friday night matchup against Les Miles and the Kansas Jayhawks.
