Top 10 Plays: Boston College vs. Richmond (Powered By WePlayed)
In BC's second game, there were quite a few great plays on both sides of the ball. In our Richmond/BC coverage finale, here are the Top 10 Plays of the game. 10. Tate Haynes Quick Reflexes Interception:
At first I thought the pass was under thrown, but after rewatching it on WePlayed, it was a perfectly thrown pass by Joe Mancuso, he just never saw Tate Haynes who was jumping the route perfectly. Haynes jumped it so hard in fact that he flew past the ball and had to make an acrobatic catch behind him. Showed some impressive reflexes to catch that with his momentum going the other way.
When a player makes a play like this once, you can say it is a great play, when he does it multiple times, you have to start to wonder if this player is just good. Rayam has really started to establish himself at the defensive tackle position, on this play he just sheds his blocker, and heads right at Mancuso, when the RB gets it, he has no where to go but the large arms of Rayam. Great disruptive ability by the junior.
8. Play action TD to Korab Idrizi:
When a team starts to cheat in on the run, you make them pay. Richmond was sitting run on this pass play, and Anthony Brown found Korab Idrizi wide open for an easy touchdown. When you can run to set up plays like this, you can understand why Addazio goes run first often.
David Bailey has shown that he can be the perfect Robin to AJ Dillon's Batman. He is quick, and has shown a tremendous burst of speed, like in the play above.
6. Jake Burt Long Touchdown Catch
The confusion that some of Addazio's offensive schemes causes is actually very enjoyable to watch. In this 21 set (two tight ends, one running back), he has Jake Burt run a seam route and Brown hits him. What floored me on this play was Burt's speed, as he out ran a cornerback to the end zone.
5. Joey Luchetti Hit For A Loss
Joey Luchetti, who came to BC as a tight end has started to emerge with some big plays over the past two weeks. On this play he was covering the fullback on the flat, but diagnoses the pass to the running back and blew the play up for a big loss. Good speed and good tackle. Luchetti continues to grow and improve, and has become an enjoyable player to watch.
4. AJ Dillon 33 Yard Almost Touchdown Run
One of the under rated parts of AJ Dillon's game is his deceptive quickness. On this play, he gets a good block out front by Chris Garrison and just that little bit of room springs Dillon to the outside and it's a foot race after this, one he just misses the touchdown by a foot.
3. Nolan Borgersen Circus Interception
Two weeks, two incredible interceptions made while absorbing a hard hit. This time it is Nolan Borgersen, a converted wide receiver who takes a huge leap and has his feet taken out from underneath him. He keeps the ball, and BC earns the takeaway.
Again not to beat a dead horse, but this play was created by a handful of plays before it. BC was running the ball heavily and effectively so Richmond was sitting on the run. When Brown ran the naked bootleg, they swarmed towards him, which allowed Dillon to get wide open, once he had the ball no one was going to catch him. I know people want BC to throw the ball more often, but this play was beautifully executed because of previous runs.
Call him the tone setter, for the second straight game Zay Flowers made plays and he made them early for the Eagles. On this end around, the super freshman shows again his elusiveness and speed. He only had a handful of plays that he touched the ball on Saturday, but that was all he needed.
