Boston College Football 2019: Welcome To Richmond Week!

After an emotional big win over the Virginia Tech Hokies, BC will have their second straight home game this time against FCS foe the Richmond Spiders. This will be the first matchup between the two schools since 1971, a game held at Richmond that the Eagles won 24-0. BC currently holds a 4-1 lead in the series.
While this game shouldn't really be much of a problem for the Eagles, they are going to want to make sure that they clean up some areas of their game this week, and most likely keep the offensive scheme vanilla to prevent future opponents from having unnecessary game film to game plan with.
Richmond (1-0) started off their season with a decisive win against Jacksonville on Thursday 38-13. Their strength lies in the running game which piled on over 250 yards with a variety of backs, and four touchdowns. Of course Boston College is no Jacksonville, but this game could highlight BC's front seven, a group that could use a good challenge.
Storylines Going Into This Game: This is one of those games BC is going to need to just go out there and play their game, and once a lead is built get the starters out of there. The Eagles can't afford to lose a key player in meaningless minutes against an FCS squad. If BC goes up three scores, get AJ Dillon/Anthony Brown and others out of there. On top of that it'll be a perfect time to let the offensive line dictate the game, and push around a much smaller Richmond defensive line.

Random Spiders Fact: Former BC defensive coordinator and current defensive end coach Jim Reid was the Richmond head coach from '95-2003.
Player To Watch: TJ Rayam. Against a team that can run the ball it could be a big game for the big guys up front. Rayam had an impressive game against VT albeit in limited snaps. He's a huge kid, and looks perfect to clog up the holes up the middle and make plays on the runner. If he is going to become the starting tackle opposite Tanner Karafa, this could be the game where he establishes himself.
