Tanner Karafa: On Young Defensive Line And Richard Yeargin III

One of the biggest concerns going into this season has to be the young defensive line. After losing Wyatt Ray, Zach Allen and Ray Smith to graduation, BC is going to be throwing out a bunch of unknowns along with Tanner Karafa who has a lot of experience. With the new depth chart out, it appears that Kyiev Bennermon, Brendan Barlow and Marcus Valdez will all see significant playing time on Saturday against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
After practice today the team co-captain talked about his young teammates, and how it is was kind of shocking having so many of his linemates graduate, leaving Karafa the lone survivor:
Karafa seems a little nervous about his teammates, but is saying all the right things. It seems like Barlow and Valdez both have some playing experience, but Bennermon a redshirt freshman is still learning. Karafa does talk very highly about Richard Yeargin III, a transfer from Clemson, who could provide valuable seniority on a young line.
The young defense could be the key for Boston College in their Week 1 matchup against Virginia Tech. If they can gel and limit mistakes, they could lead BC to a win, but if they are mistake prone and get beaten up front, it could spell a loss for the Eagles.
