After a decent to solid win against Rutgers, Boston College has to turn up their output as they take on #24 Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium. As we have talked about extensively on the site, this is an offense that is more potent than any offense the Eagles have faced this season. Jamie Newman is a legit All-ACC quarterback in any other year that Trevor Lawrence isn't in the league. He can run, he can throw, he is the total package and worst of all he runs a spread offense that does a lot of RPO, something that BC has struggled against. This game has all the markings of a shoot out, but that means that Anthony Brown will need to shoulder some of that burden. Can he do it two years in a row against the Demon Deacons. Lots of questions this week for the Eagles.

Three Questions That Need To Be Answered Against Wake Forest:

Matchups

When Wake Forest Throws The Ball: Advantage Wake Forest. The Deacs have the 14th ranked passing attacks behind Newman and a pair of outstanding wide receivers in Sage Surratt and Scotty Washington. While on the other side, BC let Artur Sitkowski throw for over 300 yards last week, and Carter Stevens throw all over them the week before.

When Wake Forest Runs The Ball: Advantage Wake Forest. Cade Carney and Kenneth Walker III are a tremendous pair of running backs who give Wake a power and flash pair of backs, and Jamie Newman can run the ball effectively as well. BC improved tremendously against Rutgers against the run, but I still need to see what they can do against a more potent offense.

When Boston College Passes The Ball: Advantage Boston College. The Eagles haven't done anything special so far through the air other than the Virginia Tech game, but Wake is 76th in the country against the pass and that includes games against Elon and Rice, along with UNC who really can't move the ball through the air. I think between the tight ends and Kobay White/Zay Flowers BC should be able to move the ball through the air.

When Boston College Runs The Ball: Advantage Boston College. AJ Dillon and David Bailey should be able to find yards against this defense which is surprisingly quick. Of any matchup, oddly enough this would be the one that is closest to a draw. Wake looks solid against the run, it's just BC's offensive line and backs are just that good.

Beer of the Game: Sam Adams Lager

Wake you are coming down here to Boston, and to honor this the Maven is going to go with a staple. The Lager. Nothing special, but superbly drinkable. Just throw a few of these back and cross your fingers that Steve Addazio has win #2 against a Top 25 team up his sleeve.

Food Of The Game:

side-ne

New England Classic: I saw on Twitter this week that this was the 17th anniversary of the opening of Hillside Cafe, and the birthplace of this masterpiece. Toasted on a griddle, with bacon, granny smith apple, and smoked turkey. All of a sudden I'm hungry now!

Song of the Week: B.O.B by Outkast

Boston College is going to need to beat Wake Forest with some shots through the air, let the bombs fly at Alumni Stadium!

Fan Excitement Meter: 6/10

nervous

I don't know if I would call it excitement, or more of a dread. Steve Addazio is 1-19 against ranked teams, and as I mentioned on the podcast Wake Forest strengths really match up well with BC's weaknesses. I have a bad feeling about this game....

Standings: The way I score the points is by taking away the difference from each individual prediction score from the actual score combining those and getting the sum . Lowest sum gets the points. In the event of a tie, I gave two or more teams those points. 3 points for closest, 2 for second, 1 for third.

AJ's Prediction: Wake Forest 38 BC 21.

BC's defense has been a liability and their struggles in getting to the passer will bite them hard this week against Jamie Newman. Wake has a lot of firepower on offense, and I think it will be too much for this BC offense to match pace with.
