Florida State Star DT Marvin Wilson To Miss Boston College Game

One of the biggest storylines going into the Boston College and Florida State game on Saturday had to do with how the Seminoles would stop AJ Dillon and David Bailey. That job got a whole lot harder today as interim FSU head coach Odell Haggins announced that star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson will be missing the rest of the season due to a hand injury sustained against Miami.
"After consulting with our athletic training staff and team physicians it was determined that surgery was the best course of action for Marvin. He had surgery earlier this week and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Marvin is disappointed, but he will remain involved as a captain and respected leader for our team."
This is a huge loss, as the 6'5 311 Wilson was the team's leader in sacks, second in tackles for loss and would have been vital in stopping Boston College's lethal rushing attack. Wilson was a Preseason All ACC selection, and many NFL mock drafts have him projected as a second round draft pick.
Currently the Seminoles are 60th in the country against the run, allowing 154 yards per game. A mammoth defensive tackle, he would have been a real challenge for BC up front, and might have drawn double teams which could have freed up some of FSU's other athletic defenders. Last year against Boston College, Wilson had seven assisted tackles as FSU won 22-21 in Tallahassee.
