Although he was only taken in the 7th round, tight end Tommy Sweeney is taking full advantage of his opportunity with the Buffalo Bills. Due to injuries to Jason Croom and Tyler Kroft, Sweeney has been playing snaps with the first team during practices and pre season games. And what he has done shouldn't be a surprise to BC fans. In his second game, he finished with two long receptions for 47 yards, and looked nimble and like he has all the makings of an NFL tight end.

This week Bills head coach Sean McDermott had high praise for Sweeney and the way he plays:

And his coach wasn't the only Bill to speak highly of Sweeney. Projected starting quarterback Josh Allen said: “He’s a special talent, he really is.... He is one of those rookie guys who maybe not a lot of people knew before our first couple of games. He’s a smart kid, he does his job, and is very physical at the point of attack as well...He’s opened my eyes to what he can do and he’s been doing a really good job for us. He’s only going to continue to get better as well.”

And Buffalo offensive coordinator Brian Daboll continues to pour on the praise: "We’ve thrown him in there with the ones and twos, and when we first started he was with the threes. He was well-coached at Boston College, and he understands football. When you have a guy who is tough, smart, and that can operate quickly and that wants to get better, that’s a good young player to work with"

Sweeney clearly has made the most out of his situation, and should be a player BC fans root for in this upcoming season.
