Cal Women Lose to No. 21 Colorado in Regular-Season Finale

Jayda Curry had her third straight productive scoring game, but it was not enough to give the Cal women a victory as the Bears lost to No. 21 Colorado 95-69 on Saturday afternoon in Bloulder, Colo., in Cal's final regular-season game.
Cal, which is 13-16 and finished Pac-12 play with a 4-14 mark, now heads to the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas where the Bears will face Washington State (19-9, 9-9 Pac-12) in a first-round game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Cal played Washington State only once this season, losing to the Cougars 70-60 in Pullman, Wash.
On Saturday Curry scored 26 points on 7-for-18 shooting, and she made one of her four three-point attempts to increase her Pac-12 record of consecutive regular-season games with a least one mde three-pointer to 51 games.
In her last three games, Curry scored 27 points, 28 points and 26 points, and improved her scoring average to 15.5 points per game.
Cal's Kemery Martin scored 12 points and was 2-for-4 on three-pointers, but the Bears were unable to keep up with Colorado (22-7, 12-5 Pac-12) in the second half.
The Bears trailed by six points at halftime, but the Buffaloes scored the first four points of the third quarter and built their lead to 18 points entering the fourth quarter.
“We had a drought offensively, we weren't knocking down shots and in this league, you have to continue to score with people," Cal coach Charmin Smith said. "And similar to Utah, they went on a run and we couldn't get the ball to fall. So then they got that separation and it's hard to close it against a good team like Colorado.”
Cal hurt itself by committing 18 turnovers.
"I thought Colorado was extremely physical," Smith said. "We struggled with that at times. And, you know, it took its toll in terms of turnovers. I thought we had stretches where we played well and shot the ball well, but we couldn't sustain it as long as we needed to."
