Former Cal linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk was released by the Cleveland Browns on February 14, but the Browns re-signed him as a free agent this week.

The 26-year-old Kunaszyk reportedly signed a one-year deal for $1.232 million.

The Browns added Kunaszyk to their roster before the start of the 2022 season, and he became a key contributor on speacial teams.  Late in the season he played a lot at linebacker because of injuries to other players.

He missed the final two games of the 2022 sseason with a hand injury, and he became a free agent after the Browns released him in February.

Kunaszyk played in 15 games last season, and he started two of them.  He played 317 snaps on special teams and 101 snaps on defense, both of which were career high for Kunaszyk, who completed his fourth NFL season in 2022.

He had 22 tackles in 2022, which was more than his tackle total for his first three NFL seasons combined. He also forced a fumble and knocked down a pass that season.

Undrafted out of Cal, Kunaszyk signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2019. He played in nine games as a rookie, then played in six games for Washington in 2020 and 11 more games for Washington in 2021.

The Commanders released Kunaszyk in May 2022, and the Browns signed him in August.

He made his first NFL start in a Dec. 17, 2022, game against Baltimore, and he also started the following week against New Orleans.  Kunaszyk then missed the final two games with his hand injury.
