Cal’s home game vs. Arizona State on Saturday, Sept. 30 has been set for a noon kickoff and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.

Meanwhile, the Bears (2-1) are rated as a 21.5-point underdog in their Pac-12 Conference opener this Saturday at No. 8 Washington (3-0).

This will be just the second meeting between Cal and ASU since 2016, with the Sun Devils toppling Cal 24-17 in 2019.

ASU has won the past two meetings, Cal claiming victory most recently in 2015, when it outlasted the Sun Devils 48-46 in Berkeley.

Cal leads the all-time series 18-17 and this could be the final time the programs meet. The Bears are headed to the Atlantic Coast Conference beginning in the fall of 2024 while ASU is moving to the Big 12 Conference.

ASU (1-2) is a 34.5-point underdog at home against No. 5 USC (3-0) on Saturday.

The visit by the Sun Devils figured to be a homecoming for ASU freshman quarterback Jaden Rashada, a graduate of Pittsburg High School in the East Bay.

But Rashada suffered an injury the Sun Devils expect will sideline him for at least another month. He did not play in ASU’s 29-0 loss to Fresno State last weekend.

Rashada was off to a solid start, having passed for 403 yards with three touchdowns through ASU’s first two games.

First-year coach Kenny Dillingham, an ASU alum who most recently served as Oregon’s offensive coordinator, has big problems now at quarterback.

Trenton Bourguet started vs. Fresno State and left the game after two series with a foot injury. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI.

Notre Dame transfer Drew Pyne replaced Bourguet but sustained a leg injury and also left the game.

Pyne was replaced by sophomore fourth-stringer Jacob Conover, a transfer from BYU, who finished the game. Conover was 6 for 16 for 89 yards with two interceptions and two sacks.

ASU ranks last in the Pac-12 in scoring at 13.0 points per game and now braces to take on USC, which leads the nation, averaging 59.3 points.
