Cal De-Commit OL Trevonte Sylvester Now Commits to Louisville

Three days after he de-committed from Cal Houston offensive line transfer Trevonte Sylvester has committed to Louisville. Sylvester announced his new commitment via social media:

It's been a quick change of heart for Sylvester. On May 7, Sylvester announced that he was committing to Cal. But on Monday, May 15, just eight days after making that commitment, Sylvester announced  that he is de-committing from Cal and returned to the open market.

Then, three days after announcing his de-commitment from Cal, he committed to Louisville on Thursday.  It seems apparent that his de-commitment from resulted directly from his interest in Louisville.  What suddenly attracted him to Louisville is a point of conjecture.

At Louisville, Sylvester is reuniting with tackle Lance Robinson, another Houston offensive lineman who transferred to Louisville recently.  Sylvester is the sixth transfer offensive lineman to commit to the Cardinals this offseason, and five of those transfers have been since mid-April.

Cal could have used Sylvester because the Bears' offensive line was the weakest part of the team in 2022.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Sylvester played in 12 games for Houston this past season as a redshirt freshman. He did not make any starts but that was because he played behind two-time all-conference left tackle Patrick Paul.

Sylvester played 114 snaps in 2022, including special teams, and played 42 snaps on offense.. He did not allow any sacks or quarterback hurries in his pass-blocking chances.
