Running Back Carter Jackson Commits to Cal for 2025

The Folsom High star is the Bears' second commitment for 2025 - both running backs.

Cal picked up its second football commitment for the Class of 2025 on Friday when running back Carter Jackson of Folsom High School in Sacramento County announced on social media he intends to play for the Bears.

Rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports, Jackson visited the campus in March and again this week before opting for Cal.

He told Bear Insider he was sold on Berkeley in part because of his relationship with running backs coach Aristotle Thompson.

“Cal was the spot for me because I felt like the coaches believe strongly in my talent,” Jackson told Bear Insider. “AT is a great coach.”

He called his visit this week “awesome,” and enjoyed meeting Cal head coach Justin Wilcox. “He was super excited that I was there and even more excited when I committed.

“I think the visit made me feel like it was the right spot for me because of everything that Cal can offer. The academics are great and they have a great staff and are wanting to really compete on the field.”

The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder, who also has offers from Utah, Arizona, Washington State, UNLV and Syracuse, cannot making his commitment binding by signing a letter of intent early in 2025.

He was rated by Rivals as the No. 38 prospect in the state of California after rushing for 1,568 yards and scoring 26 total touchdowns as a sophomore last fall. He also had 43 tackles from his defensive backs position.

The Bulldogs were 12-2 last season, including 5-0 in league play. They beat De La Salle 24-20 in the regular season before losing to the Spartans 17-14 in the NorCal playoffs.

Jackson joins fellow running back Jusyis Solis in the Bears’ 2025 recruiting class. Solis, a 6-foot, 180-pounder from Aquinas High in San Bernardino, also is rated as a 3-star prospect. He committed to Cal back in December.
