The Cal 100: Revisiting No. 1 Through 100

It was way back on April 30 when we began unveiling The Cal 100, and some of you may have wondered what got into us when we pegged Cal rower-turned-Academy-Award-winning-actor Gregory Peck at No. 100.

We completed the project on Monday, Aug. 7 with the reveal of two-sport, mid-century star Jackie Jensen at No. 1.

Our goal was to identify and rank individuals with a connection to both Cal and to sports and who were high achievers or made significant impact. Our criteria were sometimes difficult to understand and we got push-back on some of our selections.

That was OK. In fact, it's what we were hoping for . . . or least what we expected.

We wanted to inform but also have some fun. Our hope is that readers enjoyed the series, even if they didn't always agree with our picks or our rankings.

A number of folks said they missed a few installments and asked if we could assemble all 100 stories in one place. This is the portal for that -- links to all 100 profiles are below.
