Clemson Kicker Enters Transfer Portal

With the departure of one of their kickers, Clemson's kicking battle has gotten a lot clearer.

Just a couple of weeks after nailing a 51-yard field goal in Clemson's spring game, freshman kicker Liam Boyd has entered the Transfer Portal. The departure of Boyd seems to clarify what's happening in Clemson's search for a replacement for B.T. Potter.

Boyd had been competing with fellow redshirt freshman Robert Gunn III during the spring. Gunn saw action in multiple games in 2022, and based on Boyd's decision to leave, it can be assumed that Gunn was in line for the starting job.

"I am forever grateful to Coach Swinney and Coach Spiers for giving me the opportunity to play for Clemson," said Boyd on Twitter. "I want to thank the Clemson football coaches, staff, and my teammates for supporting me on my journey. After a lot of thought, I have decided to enter the transfer portal."

During Clemson's spring game, Gunn put both of his kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks and hit 2/3 extra points, with one being blocked by freshman defensive tackle Peter Woods.
