Two Clemson Legends Named Honorary Captains for Spring Game

Dexter Lawrence and Wayne Gallman return this weekend for Clemson's Orange and White Game.

One of the best parts about spring games, especially for programs like Clemson, is including some of your well-known alumni in the festivities. The Tigers certainly have no shortage of names to choose from that would make a splash. This year that honor went to current All-Pro Dexter Lawrence of the New York Giants and former running back great Wayne Gallman, who most recently spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings in 2021.

Lawrence, or as he calls himself on his Instagram profile "Sexy Dexy", is arguably one of the best defensive linemen to ever play the orange and white. A first-round pick back in 2019, Lawrence has started in 57 out of 64 games played during his career including all 16 in his rookie season. He's coming off the best campaign of his short career, being named to his first Pro Bowl and earning Second-team All-Pro honors. The defensive tackle was a part of both of the recent national championships at Clemson and was an integral piece to the legacy the program now holds.

Dexter Lawrence tallied 10.0 sacks during his time at Clemson.

Gallman was a fourth-round pick by the same New York Giants team just 2 years earlier in 2017. He spent 4 seasons in the Big Apple before moving on. All Clemson fans are hoping to see a reappearance from the "Wayne Train" this upcoming NFL season after not playing during the 2022 year. The running back currently sits 6th on the all-time rushing charts in school history and 3rd for the highest single-season rushing total. His final season was Lawrence's first and, as previously mentioned, resulted in the first national championship under Dabo Swinney

Death Valley will be rocking this weekend and it will be a huge joy for fans to see a couple of their favorites return to kick off the new campaign of 2023.
