Duke Offers Three-Star OT Tyler Magnuson

Duke’s class of 2021 includes a pair of three-star offensive tackles in Andrew Jones and Almerion Crim. Still, the Blue Devils would like to add more size to their offensive line of the future.

Duke has offered more than two dozen tackles in the 2021 class, although just about a half dozen remain uncommitted.

The Blue Devils issued another offer this week, to 6-foot-5, 261-pound Tyler Magnuson of Minneapolis’ Wayzata High. A three-star Magnuson is still not rated by some of the recruiting services.

Duke is not the first school to take notice of this diamond in the rough, however. Magnuson is approaching 20 offers, including from Power Five schools Syracuse and Arizona, as well as several schools in the MAC and Ivy League. Stanford, Northwestern and Kansas State have also shown interest of late.

Working with a group of seniors on the Wayzata offensive line, Magnuson helped lead the team to the state championship in Minnesota’s Prep Bowl, with the line paving the way for a Prep Bowl record five rushing touchdowns by running back Christian Vasser.

“I trust them with my life,” Vasser told the local Star Tribune of his offensive line.

Magnuson played right tackle this past season, but, with three of his line mates graduating, there’s a possibility he may move to the left side for his senior year. Magnuson would like to have chosen his school by then. He’s told multiple outlets that, ideally, he’d like to decide some time before the start of his final high school season, although he’d be willing to put it off until he’s 100 percent sure.
