Scott Bracey has scored a touchdown in each of Duke’s last two games. He had a career high 62 yards on five catches last week against UNC, but the Blue Devils have lost two straight.
“The mindset is essentially to bounce back,” he said. “Put it behind us and go forward for the rest of the regular season.”
The team had plenty to work on after losses to Virginia and North Carolina, and Duke is spending the bye week getting everything corrected.
“A loss is a loss,” Bracey said. “We have corrections, even if we do win. So we’re just going to come in and correct whatever we didn’t perfect in the game.”
Bracey saw progress from the 48-14 loss in Virginia to the 20-17 defeat at Carolina.
“Overall, I think we played better,” he said. “I think the score showed it. We improved week to week, going into UNC. At the end of the game, it was much closer than it was against Virginia. … We just need to execute better. At the end of the day, that’s what it comes down to. Just trying to improve.”
The bye week will help Duke recover from the emotional loss to UNC, but nothing helps get past the pain like hard work.
“We came out and came straight to work,” he said. “We wanted to get some sweat equity in and put it behind us. The week off definitely helps everybody from a physical standpoint. We’re definitely ready to bounce back.”
