Duke Basketball: Cameron Boozer Rules Out One Option in Recruitment

At least the one-year pro route poses no threat to Duke basketball's pursuit of Cameron Boozer.

As the offer sheet grows for prime Duke basketball recruiting target and Christopher Columbus (Fla.) power forward Cameron Boozer, it sounds like G League Ignite or any other professional team shouldn't bother entering the race.

"I'm going to college," Boozer, the top overall recruit on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, confirmed to On3's Jamie Shaw this week, "100 percent."

His college of choice remains a mystery. However, the 6-foot-9, 215-pound five-star recently listed to Zagsblog's Matt Whitfield the seven schools he keeps in touch with the most: Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, Miami, Michigan, and the latest to offer in UNC.

Cameron Boozer's twin, Cayden, is also on the 2025 Duke basketball wishlist. He is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard who recently saw his composite ranking jump a few spots to No. 27 yet remains a four-star. Their dad, of course, is former Blue Devil national champ Carlos Boozer, and Cameron is named after Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Boozer twins and Montverde (Fla.) five-star power forward Cooper Flagg became the first 2025 prospects to receive a Duke offer last May. And they've seemed to be at the center of head coach Jon Scheyer's radar ever since.

Interestingly, though, in Cayden Boozer's chat with Whitfield over the weekend while at the USA Basketball U16 National Team tryouts in Colorado alongside his brother, he did not name Jon Scheyer's Blue Devil staff when reeling off to Whitfield those he hears from the most: Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, and Missouri.

Perhaps he forgot to mention Duke, figuring it was just assumed.

Either way, while Cayden and Cameron Boozer have said they're more than open to possibly playing together at the next level, each has repeatedly noted that they may go their separate ways.

But judging by what Cayden Boozer told Shaw in October, he's on the same page as his brother regarding the value of college over any guaranteed pro contract straight out of high school.

"I'm definitely looking for college," he explained. "Even with the G League, I mean, they've been doing great, but I don't need the money. I'd rather have my degree and just learn while in college. And in college, there is better exposure and more nationally televised games."
