UC Davis Officially Names Tim Plough As New Head Coach

UC Davis announced that Tim Plough will return as the next head football coach of the Aggies. Plough served as the tight ends coach at California last season.

"I am so honored and humbled by this amazing opportunity," Plough said in a statement released by the university. "UC Davis is always in my heart and I'm a proud 'Davis Guy.' I want to build on the wonderful program that Coach Hawkins has developed and carry that momentum he's created into the future. I am extremely grateful for Chancellor May and Rocko for this incredible opportunity and for their belief in me. I can't wait to get back to Shredville and find joy every day."

Plough served as the offensive coordinator at UC Davis from 2017-20 and led the Aggies to a Top-10 passing offense in three consecutive seasons. He also played quarterback for the Aggies from 2004-07 and began his coaching career as a student assistant in 2008.

Plough also served as the offensive coordinator at Northern Arizona (2015-16) and the offensive coordinator at Boise State (2021-22). During his time at Northern Arizona, Plough coached FCS Freshman of the Year quarterback Case Cookus.

UC Davis will hold an introductory press conference on Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. in the Edwards Family Athletics Center.
