England Native, OL Enoch Wangoy Commits to Florida

Florida picks up its fifth commitment from the class of 2025, securing the services of offensive tackle Enoch Wangoy, a native of England.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Zarephath Academy class of 2025 offensive tackle Enoch Wangoy announced his commitment to the Gators late on Saturday evening, following an unofficial visit to Florida and a meeting with UF head coach Billy Napier to conclude the trip.

A native of Manchester, England, Wangoy moved to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue opportunities in collegiate athletics, according to his Next College Student Athlete profile.

Before taking the American football field, Wangoy spent seven years on the football pitch, playing soccer. He also has significant experience playing basketball, having previously aligned with the Manchester Magic (GBR)‎ in the FIBA, and marginal experience playing rugby.

He continues to hoop, with Potter's House Christian Academy in Jacksonville.

But on the turf, Wangoy, now 18, self-reports as a 6-foot-8, 280-pound offensive and defensive lineman, boasting a seven-foot wingspan. 2023, his junior year, marked his first season playing football. Yet, he served as a starter and team captain for the Eagles.

According to MaxPreps, Wangoy compiled 19 tackles and two sacks defensively, and three punt blocks on special teams in 2023.

Highlights from Wangoy's debut campaign on the gridiron can be observed below.

Wangoy is currently unranked on all major recruiting services. He holds scholarship offers from Auburn and Syracuse, in addition to Florida.

"I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and the field," Wangoy wrote via NCSA prior to his UF commitment, noting a personal 4.38 grade-point average. "I am currently undecided about which major to pursue. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team but also have the ability to develop as a player due to a lack of time in the game."

Of note, Florida welcomed an internationally-based offensive line commitment to its 2024 recruiting class. Guard Noel Portnjagin, of Germany, signed with the Gators in December 2023 and enrolled at UF in January.

Wangoy is the fifth class of 2025 recruit to commit to Florida, following Tampa (Fla.) Plant running back Waltez Clark, Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy wide receiver Josiah Abdullah, Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph and Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins
