Florida is freshly removed from a 52-35 drubbing at the hands of LSU on Saturday night in Death Valley. The contest, albeit a back-and-forth affair for the first three quarters, namely illustrated the Gator defense’s persisting struggles.
Allowing a program record 701 yards, Florida saw Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels become the first player in FBS history to pass for over 350 yards and rush for over 200 yards in a single game.
When Florida State comes to town on Nov. 25, the Gators will have to combat a similarly talented dual-threat quarterback in Jordan Travis.
The sixth-year signal-caller has led FSU to post the No. 13 scoring offense in college football during the 2023 campaign. Mike Norvell’s squad boasts a 10-0 record as a result.
Despite the drastically different trajectories of the two programs during the current season, the season finale could provide significant implications for both squads as the Seminoles fight to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive while the Gators get one final shot at bowl eligibility — if they’re unable to pull out a win against the Missouri Tigers in Week 12.
The Gators are 37-27-2 against the Seminoles all-time and aim to extend their home winning streak in the rivalry matchup to three in Week 13.
