Florida vs. LSU: Final Jayden Daniels Update, Key Offensive Piece Ruled Out

In this story:
LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels will start against the Florida Gators after being cleared from concussion protocol, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Saturday morning.
Daniels suffered a "head injury" against Alabama in Week 10, creating uncertainty regarding his status for the cross-divisional rivalry. However, LSU head coach Brian Kelly expressed mild optimism for the Heisman contender's progression during the SEC coaches' teleconference on Wednesday.
"He worked out this morning, and it appears as though that workout went well, which is the last stage before he's cleared for non-contact practice, so we're expecting him to practice today," Kelly said. "If all things go well through practice today, he'll be cleared for contact on Thursday."
Daniels remained on the fast track to return to the field, culminating in his clearance for the Florida-LSU bout. The passer has compiled 2,792 yards, 27 touchdowns and four interceptions through the air to pair with 684 yards and six scores on the ground.
Meanwhile, college football's top-ranked offense will be shorthanded in the backfield as their junior bell cow running back Logan Diggs will miss the contest, On3 Sports' Matt Zenitz first reported.
Diggs has produced 635 yards and six scores toting the rock throughout the 2023 campaign on 113 attempts.
No other Tigers rusher has more than 25 carries on the season. Ball carriers Josh Williams, Kaleb Jackson and John Emery Jr. will split time to fill the void Diggs creates next to Daniels in the backfield.
Kick-off for Florida's matchup with LSU is set for 7:30 p.m. ET inside Tiger Stadium.
