Ivory's meteoric rise as a Division 1 transfer prospect came roughly a year after his flip to the defensive side of the ball from the quarterback position, a spot he previously occupied in high school and for two years at Mississippi Valley State before moving out west.
It did not appear to be a difficult transition.
The now-6-foot-4, 250-pound Ivory accumulated 22 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and five pass breakups in ten games during his breakout campaign in the new role in 2022.
His emergence led to transfer offers from programs such as Fresno State, Akron, San Jose State, Bowling Green State, UNLV, USF, UNC-Charlotte, San Diego State and Marshall earlier this year, before Florida came calling with an opportunity for Ivory to visit campus.
Ivory made his way to Gainesville from June 9-11 and committed to the Gators on the spot.
Ivory joins a scholarship edge rusher room at Florida also consisting of junior Princely Umanmielen, redshirt sophomore Justus Boone, sophomore Jack Pyburn, and freshmen Kelby Collins, T.J. Searcy and Kamran James.
