Yale QB Aidan Warner Transferring to Florida

The Gators secure another preferred walk-on passer, Yale transfer quarterback Aidan Warner.

Yale quarterback Aidan Warner announced his transfer commitment to Florida on Monday evening. He'll join the Gators as a preferred walk-on with four years of remaining collegiate eligibility, after spending a season on scholarship with the Bulldogs.

Warner is the second walk-on quarterback transfer Florida has accepted this offseason, following that of Paul Kessler, who was a member of the Santa Monica College football team in 2023 according to his HUDL profile. Kessler committed to transfer to UF in December.

A consensus three-star recruit from Winter Park (Fla.) High in the class of 2023, Warner committed to Yale over nine scholarship offers elsewhere, following a high school career in which he completed 134-of-221 passes (60.6%) for 1,659 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Warner spent a season on Yale's scout team before announcing plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 1, 2023. He proceeded to visit Florida earlier in January, along with his personal quarterback trainer.

The Gators enter the 2024 offseason with redshirt senior Graham Mertz and freshman DJ Lagway on scholarship at quarterback, with Warner, Kessler and redshirt freshman Parker Leise offering depth as walk-ons.

Redshirt junior Jack Miller III, who was a scholarship member of Florida's quarterback room the past two seasons, is no longer with the program.
