Florida earned a spot in Providence (R.I.) La Salle Academy defensive back Justin Denson Jr.'s top five schools on Tuesday evening, alongside Oklahoma, Alabama, Michigan State and Texas A&M.

In addition to trimming his list of 28 scholarship offers to five contenders, Denson shared plans to announce his college commitment on July 1.

Denson officially visited Florida from June 9-11 and connected strongly with his primary Gators recruiter, secondary coach Corey Raymond, on the topic of defensive back play during the three-day stay.

"I learned so much, so so much. My little time with him, my meetings with him, it was amazing," Denson told All Gators about his time with Raymond. "Just being around him, he's such a real guy, such a smart man. The legend. Just really love him as a coach and as a person.

"I feel like I became a better DB after this weekend. Matter of fact, just 20 minutes speaking with him briefly before my real long meeting, I learned so much. I learned different techniques, different stances, different plays. It was just amazing. Loved it. Learned a lot."

At the time, Denson considered Florida the No. 1 school in his recruitment while speaking with reporters, although Alabama had entered the race just days before and he paid the Crimson Tide a visit the following Thursday. Denson then officially visited Oklahoma from June 16-18.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Denson is considered the No. 59 cornerback and No. 614 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite rankings. He produced 60 tackles, three interceptions, six defended passes and one fumble as a junior in 2022.
