The Florida Gators have been very particular when targeting running back talent under Jabbar Juluke’s leadership.

Thus far, Florida’s equipped its offense with between-the-tackle ball carriers who operate more in traditional roles as bruisers up the middle. Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne were the framework for the future of the room, and 2023 commit Treyaun Webb and 2024 commits Chauncey Bowens and Kahnen Daniels will look to carry that style of play forward.

However, early indications in the 2025 recruiting class suggest that mold could be broken as Anthony “Turbo” Rogers — who stands just 5-foot-8, 185 pounds — included UF in his top five on Sunday.

The speedy back named Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Oregon as the schools moving forward in his recruitment. He cuts a 23-team offer sheet to just five despite having over a year and a half remaining in his recruitment.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 8 ball carrier and No. 88 overall player in the 2025 cycle, Rogers’ inclusion of the Gators came largely due to the atmosphere of the coaching staff and run-heavy offense style the team imposes, according to On3Sports’ report.

The Pike Road (Ala.) product, who transferred to IMG Academy prior to his junior year this offseason, performed as an uber-productive ball carrier during his sophomore campaign to compile 1,626 yards and 22 touchdowns on 8.7 yards per carry in addition to eight receptions, 219 yards and two touchdowns.

His dynamic playmaking ability — highlighted by a sub-11-second 100-meter dash time — out of the backfield positions him to serve in a one-two punch role with the Ascenders' incumbent starter Jerrick Gibson, the nation’s top 2024 back.

Rogers also presents high-upside as a kick returner, averaging over 35 yards per return on just eight attempts in 2022.

While there is still plenty of time before Rogers moves forward into his commitment, his accelerated process compared to other 2025 recruits suggests a pledge could come sooner rather than later.

Update: Rogers is scheduled to commit on June 2.
